There are few things in this world better than the scent of clean laundry. I swear my happiest days are when I'm wearing a sweatshirt fresh from the dryer or I'm laying my head down on a pillow that still holds that clean laundry scent. I pile in the dryer sheets to keep that freshness from fading, but sadly, it never lasts more than couple of days. So how can I keep my laundry smelling clean all the way until the next wash?
Behold: Downy Unstopables. Just add a little to your regular load of laundry to keep everything smelling fresher longer! For a limited time, Downy is offering free samples of Downy Unstopables every day. If they already ran out of samples today, check back tomorrow for another chance! You can choose between three scents: Fresh, Lush and Shimmmer. I have absolutely no idea what shimmer smells like, but I'd love to give it a try -- especially when it's free!
Free cookies? Yes, please! October 1 marks the first day of National Cookie Month, which means getting your hands on some warm, ooey-gooey fresh cookies is easier than ever! It may be too soon to start busting out the elaborately frosted holiday cookies, but a good ol' fashion chocolate chip or oatmeal cookie is just the thing I'm craving for the first full month of fall. Here are some sweet freebies to help you kick off National Cookie Month:
And for those of you that would rather pour yourself a glass of milk and curl up not the couch while some homemade cookies bake in your oven, here are a batch of cookie coupons just for you!
On your marks, get set, CLICK! Seattle's Best is giving away free coffee samples all day. The kicker however, is that you must be one of the first 1,000 to claim your prize. Luckily, a new round of free samples refreshes at the beginning of every hour until 10pm tonight. But hurry, this hot deal will be gone in a flash!
Every four years, I forget that I'm not into watching sports and I hunker down on the couch for the Summer Olympics. I couldn't really tell you much about the rules or why one gymnast's flippy-floppy move was better than the next, but I do know a thing or two about throwing a great themed party. With my sudden interest in athleticism, I thought it would be fun to get the family together for our very own Olympic Games.
Here are a few fun events, treats and free printouts for all you Olympic enthusiasts out there.
Synchronized Snack Toss This idea came from Parents.com
Get into teams of two. One team member wears a shower cap covered in shaving cream (Save $1 on Schick Shaving Products). The other team member stands a few feet away and tries to throw cheese puffs into the shaving cream. The team gets a point for every puff still on the cap when the minute is up.
Chilled Out Freestyle This idea came from Spoonful.com
We may not have a pool in our backyard, but this game will definitely help us get wet and wild! Each team lines up at one end of the yard with a bucket full of water. Holding a plastic cup with three holes in it, each player must fill their cup with water and hold it over their head while they run to the other end of the yard where an empty bucket is waiting. The player must dump what's left of their water into the bucket and then signal for the next teammate to go. The game ends when all team members have made it to the other side of the yard and filled the formerly empty bucket with water. The team with the most water in their bucket wins.
Rigged Javelin Toss
This game is really quite simple. Each player takes turns launching their "javelin" (a.k.a. a long, skinny balloon) as far as they can. The player who launches it the farthest wins. However, winning is not as important as the silly fun you'll have watching your family and friends try to get their balloon to move any kind of distance at all!
After you've worked up an appetite, sweeten your victory with this easy treat: Fill ice cream cones with cheddar popcorn (Save $0.50 on Orville Redenbacher's Gourmet Popped Corn) and you've got yourself an edible Olympic torch!
What's the best way to wind down after a day of fun in the sun? By tuning into the Olympics, of course! Check out these free printables to help your kids pass the time during commercials:
